Now that I have bought the software and going to start the ingest of a great deal of data onto my array I am going to give the software its own desktop to provide the maximum flexibility for me (and it too). When I was testing it I just installed it into my desktop.

But the FAQ is pretty good and it can be easily printed to PDF which is handy. I am doing this with ViceVersa PRO 2.5 2514 64-bit. The combination of ViceVersa Pro and the VVEngine are very powerful indeed! Stuff to gather It lets ViceVersa run as a service and even provides command line support along with a lot of other capabilities. It has simple scheduling but also very advanced scheduling is available as an add-in at additional cost and is called VVEngine. It can sync visually (side by side) and even disconnected PC’s via USB.

It can copy open files (using Windows Volume Shadow Service) including PST files. It does real-time backup, synchronization, and replication. We are working with ViceVersa Pro here and it is more then just a file mover. However, one of my co-workers has suggested I look at something that is even better. An inexpensive and simple tool that worked very good indeed. I have been using for a while now PCSyncBack Pro to move files around. I could still work with VMware but also work with some very cool new software. That is why I left VMware – which I loved working at and with, and moved to DataGravity.

I don't want to upgrade to VMWare10/11 right now because of cost.I work with a lot of cool software and I have for many years. I know sometimes VMWare developers read these threads and it would be great if they could give us a tech talk on how cut and paste works and some theories on what may be happening. So a solution might be to restore to a snapshot where it's working then go back to the snapshot where it's broken and restore that and then it may work. Then I restored the snapshot where cut and paste didn't work and guess what.

To investigate what happened I took a snapshot of "cut and paste not working" then restored some earlier snapshots to see if cut and paste would work, and it worked in all of them. Too much is going on with the host so I couldn't reboot it. Cut on the host and then paste on the guest, then cut on the guest then paste on the host (believe it or not this simple trick actually works sometimes). Run in background and then reopen Workstation and reopen the VM. Uninstall latest VMWare Tools and then reinstall. I tried these things for the Windows 7 圆4 guest but none of them worked: In another guest running at the time Windows XP x86 it was working fine sharing the clipboard with the host.

This afternoon I had a guest Windows 7 圆4 where copy and paste stopped working.
